i focus too much on dreams and pay so little attention to what's in front of me often something precious is so close i don't see it because it's too close we always say to each other that we need to dream to continue living for the dreams you and i keep running i've came so far you cannot catch me anymore

Pleased to announce a panel discussion at Cullom Gallery in Seattle Sunday, April 21st, at 2 pm, with Shannon Durbin, Vaughn Bell, and Mugi Takei. Drawing on themes in Durbin's gouache drawings of forest fires that are on view at Cullom Gallery through April 27th, these three Northwest artists will introduce us to the place that nature and the environment inform their art making. With questions posed by one another and special panel moderators, the conversation will also touch on contemporary perceptions of the environment - a blurry mix of personal memories, historic representations of nature, and an uneasy awareness of the gathering facts that quantify the earth's degradation - and what this all means for future representation of nature in the visual arts.
